FAQ

What’s so special about your products?

For our natural dog products, we use a unique set of ingredients to ensure the maximum benefits for your dog. We’re always guided by the simple mission of improving the health and well-being of every dog using our products.

Other than the products themselves, you know you’re buying into a brand born out of a genuine care and passion for your dog’s well being. Many animal products are mass-produced with no care of attention put into their composition, or how they can benefit your dog long-term. Here at puppawsco.com, our passion runs deeper than just marketing.

My dog’s licking their paw balm, is this OK?

Soft Paws dog paw balm is completely natural, safe and edible. We use beeswax as our base – this means all the powerful, moisturizing essential oils work their way deep into the skin of the pads whilst being protected by the durable, breathable barrier beeswax base.

So, what does that mean? Well, it means that your dog can safely lick their paws once you’ve applied the balm, the paw balm application won’t be spoiled by the pooches licking , but we do advise that you at least try to distract your dog so the wax can have a chance to set in a bit.

How often should I use dog paw balm?

If your dog has dry, cracked and damaged pads it’s important to apply as much and often as possible.  We know that pups that use Soft Paws more frequently see the benefits quickly and have softer, protected paws – they’re also less likely to suffer damaged pads and infections!

Depending on how active you and your dog are, and how cracked the pads have become, we would recommend:

Dry, Damaged & Cracked Paws – Apply at least 2-3 times per day (usually best after exercise or eating to avoid licks)

Dry Paws –  Apply 1-2 times per day (morning & evening – after walks)

‘Normal’ Paws – Apply 2-3 times per week to maintain soft, smooth & healthy paws

We would also recommend that during the colder winter months you increase your paw balm usage to every day. During winter the colder temperatures take their toll so Soft Paws works as an ideal winter paw protection balm to help shield from snow and ice.

Will the paw balms and waxes stain by sofa or carpet?

Short answer is no. There’s no need to worry about our balms or waxes staining your carpets, hard floors or sofa. The balms are wax, oil and butter-based so quickly sink into the paw before hardening to protect it from licks and environmental damage. That said if the balm does get on any fabrics and you need to clean simply dab with a warm, damp cloth and allow to dry.

Remember, they’re all made of natural ingredients so are always gentle.

Q&A’s
Will the balm stain my carpets & furniture?
There’s no need to worry about your carpets, hard floors or sofa. The balm is wax and oil-based so quickly sinks into the paw before hardening to protect it from licks and environmental damage.

If the balm does get on any fabrics simply dab with a warm, damp cloth and allow to dry.

Will this make hard floors extra slippy for my dog?
For a few minutes after you’ve applied the balm to your dog’s paws it will be slightly slippy, this will eventually wear off once the balm has soaked in. It is recommend that you try and allow a few minutes for that process to occur. Maybe apply while they are resting so less likely to get up and walk about.

A dry or cracked paw will have little traction on hard, smooth floors, so by keeping your dogs paws healthy, soft and moisturized you will help them create more grip!

What happens if my dog try’s to lick the balm off?
Because it’s totally natural it’s safe and edible. While your dog can safely lick their paws once you’ve applied the balm, it is advised to try and distract them so the wax can have a chance to set. The paw balm won’t be spoiled by your dog licking.
